Piedmont Orthopaedic’s physical therapy department received a new face-lift over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. New features include new flooring throughout, recovered physical therapy tables, a fresh paint job, and some interior design highlights to accent the large windows that border the department. Piedmont staff want to extend a big thank-you to all the patients, visitors and friends that were so very patient during this process of updating. Here are some before and after shots.

The Benefits of Massage in Physical Therapy

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Massage therapy is just one aspect of the continuum of care offered at Piedmont Orthopaedic’s physical therapy department. Massage Therapist, Stephanie Owen, typically applies the therapeutic and neuromuscular massage techniques to aid patients in their recovery after surgery or suffering an injury.

“Massage therapy is important because it relieves muscles and aches, decreases scar tissue and increases circulation which promotes healing,” Owens said. “Therapy reeducates the muscles to help regain strength and elasticity, which also helps improve general range of motion and flexibility.”
